Dang TTLB Ecosystem and Their Fascist Ways

I'm quite competitive by nature, so the recent discovery of The Truth Laid Bear's Ecosystem is no good for me, for a number of reasons.

I'm a wee bit perturbed that blogs named Soulfish Stew, Ratboy's Anvil and Libertarian Leanings are higher on the food chain than something as substantive as a Shakespearean character reincarnate. I mean, what is wrong with the world?

Here are a few reasons why it might be a bit difficult to put the darn Daily Kos out of business:

  1. I don't know what hoops I need to jump through to become a marsupial. (I never thought I'd say that.)
  2. I don't get paid for this. Hence, my paying jobs are somewhat priority.
  3. I don't see a quick end in sight. For a competitive person, this is a tough one. I more than reveled in the instant gratification that was destroying my amphibious foes (also known as swimmers from another team). Not so with the blog world.

So I resign myself to my current status as a Flappy Bird, (clenching teeth) even though last week I was an Adorable Rodent!! ...Why did I ever go to that site?

(Oh, and in case you are scratching your head at the lack of links to the aforementioned blogs, ain't no way I'm thrusting them higher up that ladder!:)

oh, please. like you have anything to complain about. what, with all your hits, and links, and comments. and commenters. I'd love to have them, too.

no, all I have to show for 10 years on the internets is a big pile of nothing. and a touch of bitterness. just a touch.

now I'm almost glad I got you addicted.

and I thought I'd also mention, that Cotillion thing also helps, most vociferously. whatever that means. I saw it in a movie.

"vociferously"

Darn you and your introducing me to TTLB. :) Addiction hasn't got anything on me. Now..obsession? ..maybe.

I must become a mammal one of these days...if it's the last thing I do!

Okay, here's what I've learned:

The TTLB ecosystem isn't about who has the best blog. There are great ones that rank way-down-there: like yours. And mine - except that I'm not even good-looking enough to get seated in the front row at the Tonight Show. heh

The TTLB rankings are actually a combination of the number of hits your blog gets in combination with the number of links in and out of your blog. And it doesn't seem to help if you link to other blogs not listed in TTLB's system. What's more, as the number of other blogs in the ecosystem it becomes harder and harder to evolve. One can even *de*volve... (There may also be points given for how often you post to your blog, as well, although I've seen no evidence of that.)

So, if you wish to evolve, you will want to get listed on other people's blogs, and you want to link to theirs. And then post alot, and comment alot.

And, if all else fails, you could try making up 'Portia' tee-shits for a few dozen of your closest personal friends, and then all get seats together in the audience of the Tonight Show and get seen on TV.

Warm Regards.

nobody (in the system) linked to me. therefore, I'm not linked in the system. thus, I'm not important.

and boy can you ever devolve. I'm ready to forget it ever happened.

Portia, Portia, Portia don't get sucked under by the superfluous. Ok I admit the quest to achieve higher status within the TTLB Ecosystem can be seductive. I (my blog) spent so much time as a Insignificant Microbe, I wrote a post about it. Can you imagine my excitement when I and became a Slimy Mollusc?
You must know this "rating system" is based more on quantity not always quality (at least that is the pitiful excuse I use). If you posted bare breasts or just mentioned the name Paris Hilton, your traffic would skyrocket.
Regardless of what the "Bear" says, you are nothing less than a Higher Being to my eyes.

Slimy Mollusc? luxury.

back in my day, we were just all lumps of coal. and we had to walk 300 miles to school every morning. in 18 feet of snow, both ways.

and mommy and daddy would kill us every night and stuff us into boxes and dance on top of the boxes until they were all smashed and broken, and our coal corpses were all crunchy on the floor.

channeling Monty Python there

Sorry! Don't know how I managed to duplicate my comment...

That's quite alright. I'll delete it for you. :) Thanks for commenting, all the same. :)

Hey, a rose by any other name would smell just as good. That's some of that there literature for you. I can take that you don't like the name, Soulfish Stew, but stop player hating on me, please. If you really investigate the TLB ecosystem and start clicking on everything above you I bet you will soon find lots and lots of blogs that rank higher that haven't been updated in years. That should really chafe your shorts.
