Yeah, Yeah

Troy Fell.

And apparently those around me have felt it necessary to put me on suicide watch. I've never received so many phone calls and text messages in my life.

That was not my team out there. I don't know what happened. UCLA shut us down. Well done.

I'm not upset that we're not going to the national championship game. I'm upset we lost to the Bruins.

Because I work in Westwood. And, oh yeah, they're the Bruins.

It's going to be a long week.

Don't forget that yer dear ol' Dad once dwelt in the land of powder blue and gold. I only lament the Trojan's loss because it makes you so blue. This proves that nature indeed abhors a vacuum, like the one that the Bruins have been inhaling for 7 years now. Time for their "gutty little" selves to uphold a tradition. Another great game, one of many for USC this year. 4 losses in 59 games? Jeez.....

You forgot USC losing to Cal to fail in their bid to win the Men's Water Polo NCAA Championship.

Failure, what a theme for the weekend.

Agh...we lost our chance? Well, I guess we can't always be the best.

And I was just about to blog: At least we still have Water Polo.

Sigh.

Let's look on the bright side ... ummm, well ...

now you don't have to worry about all that excessive celebration and you can buckle down to finishing the semester. How's that for a cheer-up!?

We're fighting on to victory, to conquer all the rest. We are the mighty Bruins, triumphant ever more, and you can hear, from far and near, the mighty Bruin roar:

U...C...L...A...

UCLA Fight, fight, fight!

Sorry for the gloating. But 7 years of agony is too much. Plus, last year in particular was horrible. I was scarred by last year right up until the middle of the 3rd quarter this year, when I finally realized SC didn't have it, and that we could win, if we kept playing.

There is something magical about being looked passed and then prevailing against your arch rival, when a national championship is on the line. Particularly when you are sitting in the SC section with everyone shouting at you for the first half. Things got a little quieter in the second half.

More importantly, for Bruin fans, is that it preserves the record UCLA v. USC winning streaks, at 8, held by UCLA. Which, contrary to the post below, SC would have tied, not set, had they won. UCLA won 1991-1998 (8), USC won 1999-2005 (7).

It was a great game, and SC is still a very good team. I hope they represent the conference well in the Rose Bowl. I hope it's not too long of a week for you, mine seems to be flying by!

Mr. More,

You're absolutely correct in saying we would have tied your record. That is what I meant when I posted, and always knew you all held the longest winning streak against us. Typo. :)

It has been a long week, but mostly because it's finals time at SC.

As soon as it's all over, I'll be posting a post mortem, or "SC Grad Student's Final Thoughts."

In the mean time:

Thanks for the Rosebowl well wishes. :) We just might need them now.
