The joys of posting words out of context

Portia just text messaged me this:

I got plastered and mud-wrestled like mad-woman today

Sure, what she meant was the she was finishing off drywall instillation. You mud the walls you put the drywall up, you seal the seems between the sheets with mud. It's important to make it as flat as possible, so that it looks smooth when it comes time to paint.

If, for some INSANE reason, you want to know more, this site shows the basics of drywall installation. I can only imagine that Portia Rediscovered is going to drop the theme of arts, literature, and world travel to become more like "This Old House."

Yeah, Bob...we're going to start by getting some floor-mounted electric baseboards to replace all these space heaters...

Well, you got one thing right there, Mac...but you can have as much mud on the drywall as you want, as long as you sand it down before painting. If you don't, it will look like some neurotic drunken idiot built your house. I don't remember Em doin' that much drywall work back in the day, but boy can our mom slather on a coat of mud...HOO-WIE!

I just wanted to thank you, Mac, for covering for her while she's helping out down there. She's a great example of faith in action. Plus when she gets back, she can help finish the drywall in her new bathroom! Hearing her reports just galvanizes our resolve to make sure that these precious folks get all the help they need to recover.
